Olivia is excited to join the team at Riverbend Environmental Education Center as a fellow. A native of Chicago, Olivia graduated from Macalester College in Minnesota with a major in environmental studies and minors in geology and geography. Over the past 8 years, Olivia has taught high school earth science and astronomy in a New York public school and mentored Masters in Teaching students from the American Museum of Natural History (a program that she herself graduated from when she first arrived in New York). Whether studying the connections between macroinvertebrates and water quality in the cloud forest of Ecuador or launching student-designed experiments in a weather balloon in Yonkers, Olivia is passionate about understanding the beauty and science behind Earth’s systems and sharing this understanding and curiosity with others in an accessible and joyful way.
