Dan joined Riverbend in the the fall of 2024 after completing 33 years of teaching science and STEAM at the elementary and middle school level. After retiring from full-time teaching, Dan is committed to continuing his passion for environmental science education. As a lifelong educator and learner, Dan believes children should be given the authentic experience of being a scientist through hands-on learning experiences outdoors. A lifelong interest in environmental science was inspired by childhood experiences of hiking the mountains of Maine and New Hampshire and visiting our National Parks. Dan graduated from Colby College (BA, Biology) and the University of Delaware (M.ed.). Dan enjoys helping children experience the wonder of our natural world.
