Riverbend's EarthDay50 BioBlitz 2020

Join Riverbend for a week-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day from April 19th – April 25th and Share Your Love for the Planet!

Let’s see how many different species we can spot over this special week and share our love for the planet!

The first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970 at locations around the United States. Twenty million Americans participated on that first day and since then, Earth Day celebrations have been held every year all over the world. This year, to honor this special anniversary year, Riverbend along with other environmental organizations would like to encourage you to be outdoors and enjoy the wonders that nature has to offer all of us. We would like to invite you to go outside and observe the things that you see in your natural surroundings. These could be in your backyard, at a local park, or at Riverbend. 

Since we cannot be together this spring at the preserve, we are inviting everyone to share with us the amazing nature that you find. Please post the observations you make at Riverbend or wherever you are getting outside to observe nature! 

Go out and use your smart phone to record things that you see on your nature walks such as flowers, insects, invertebrates, or animals and birds. Upload your images to our iNaturalist project page or tag us on social media. Be sure to follow all social distancing protocols when you are outside.
