There are amazing things that happen when you bring your class outside. Experts say that when students are exposed to environmental education they:

  • Think more creatively and critically
  • Experience less stress, setting them up for greater cognitive gains
  • Have positive outcomes in reading, math and science

Riverbend offers:

  • Standards-aligned programming which can be tailored to meet your needs
  • Full and half day field trips at our 30 acre nature preserve
  • Riverbend on the Road programs to your school
  • After school nature clubs and ongoing series programs that can support your curriculum.

Riverbend Environmental Education Programs provide content that addresses Pennsylvania Academic Standards as well as Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)

All Riverbend Educators are trained in Environmental Education and have completed clearances for working with children.

Alternate Location: Natural Lands Trust Preserve: Saunder's Woods

Riverbend field trips can be offered at our 30 acre nature preserve or Saunder's Woods, a 25 acre preserve also located in Gladwyne. Riverbend partners with Natural Lands Trust to offer Saunders' Woods. This experience can offer a more challenging experience for older students or students who have visited Riverbend in the past.
