Although Gladwyne is a long way from the Gulf of Mexico, the staff and visitors at Riverbend have still been affected and concerned about the oil spill off the Gulf Coast. In an effort to nurture and inspire tomorrow’s environmentally responsible and caring citizens, Riverbend is putting our mission into action.
On July 19th, Riverbend will be launching “Operation Summer Camp: Riverbend Gives to the Gulf.” For every child that signs up for a week of summer camp at Riverbend from now until September, Riverbend will donate 15% of their camp fee to the Gulf Coast clean up. In addition, campers will be invited to bring supplies to include in a Recovery Kit for the Gulf.
We will also be having a special presentation and activity regarding the oil spill each week during camp. The children will see first-hand what happens during an oil spill and what it takes to clean it up.
Environmental stewardship for the world at large can start right here at Riverbend…in our own backyard. Whether your child has already attended a week of camp this year or has never been to Riverbend, we invite you to consider signing him/her up for a week that will have a significant impact—not just on your camper, but for the sea life and people in the Gulf Coast region.
